As we inch towards Spring and the obvious Cannabis holiday (April 20), cannabis is still on a growth spurt. The California Physical Therapy Association is holding a series of webinars for practitioners who will be invariably asked by consumers to include cannabis in physical therapy solutions.
Following a number of successful seminars, the Sacramento County Bar Association created a new section for Cannabis Law; they held their inaugural lunch event at the Bar’s event center to a great turnout. The California Department of Justice’s Office of the Attorney General is interviewing to fill vacant spots in their new Cannabis unit, which will prosecute licensing actions for the state agencies overseeing these regulated communities of growing, manufacturing, distributing, and selling.
One of those agencies, the Bureau of Cannabis Control, which is within the Department of Consumer Affairs, recently announced more enforcement actions – this time on two unlicensed cannabis businesses operating in Sacramento County and Los Angeles. On January 31, 2019, “Nollie Green-Blu Solutions,” an unlicensed cannabis delivery service located at 7529 Sunset Ave. in Fair Oaks, was investigated based upon a complaint received by the Bureau. The search warrant resulted in the seizure of over $250,000 of cannabis and cannabis products.
The Bureau (and Department) also assisted the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) with serving a separate search warrant on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, on “Smoking Aces,” an unlicensed cannabis retailer located at 1411 S. Robertson Blvd. in Los Angeles. That operation resulted in the seizure of $27,637 in cannabis products, as well as two firearms; six suspects were arrested under LAPD’s warrant.
