If you have been delaying scheduling your California Veterinary Technician Examination (CVTE), your behavior has paid off – as of April 17, 2019, the Veterinary Medical Board is no longer requiring this examination in addition to the national licensing examination for applicants to be licensed as a Registered Veterinarian Technician (RVT).
If you have scheduled your exam with the Board’s Exam Vendor, PSI but have not yet taken it, you can call to cancel at least 48 hours before to get a full refund. If you have already fulfilled all other requirements, the Board is identifying and contacting those applicants to get their RVT license.
For those that took the examination and did not pass, you will not have to take the CVTE again. For those who took the examination and passed, you can be proud but cannot get a refund.
