Civil Litigation

Civil litigation is a more formal way of describing a lawsuit. Civil litigation occurs when an individual or business files suit against another individual, business, or government official in a court of law.
Typically, the dispute involves money or is seeking the court to compel an individual or business to take some action or to stop some offending behavior. More often than not, civil litigation involves some type of formerly mutually beneficial relationship (e.g. contract between businesses, neighbors, etc.) that has now gone into disrepair or grown damaging for one of the parties.
Simas & Associates, Ltd., has been representing individuals and businesses in civil litigation for the past nine years. This has involved every step of the process, from prior to filing suit (e.g. researching the underlying potential claim or defense, sending a demand letter, negotiating potential terms of resolution, etc.), filing the lawsuit, pre-trial proceedings (e.g. interrogatories, admissions, depositions, motions, etc.), representing clients at trial, and enforcing judgment. Ultimately, we help our clients obtain the justice they deserve and/or defend their rights.
