On Wednesday, September 27, Steve Simas is providing training for members of the Civil Service Commission for the County of San Luis Obispo. The training is being held at 1055 Monterey Street, Suite D-250, San Luis Obispo, CA 93408 and is to run from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
The Civil Service Commission (CSC) oversees administration of the County's Civil Service system. In this capacity, the Commission prescribes, interprets and enforces the Civil Service Rules for the County of San Luis Obispo. It is comprised of a Director and a Commissioner for each of the five (5) districts of the County. Appointed by the County's Board of Supervisors, the Commissioners serve four year terms and remain on the Commission until a successor is selected.
Simas & Associates, Ltd. serves as Special Counsel to the CSC, and has been since 2011.
Steve's training is to familiarize the Commissioner to the Commission – its history, purpose, and procedures. He will do so by reviewing the scope of its jurisdiction, the procedure used in administrative hearings, common attributes of disciplinary actions/hearings/decisions, and further judicial review of the CSC's decision in court by way of writ of administrative mandate.
