On February 26, 2013, Steven L. Simas, founder and owner of Simas & Associates, Ltd., gave a presentation at the Blue Goose Event Center in Loomis, California. The presentation was part of the Winter Lecture Series hosted by Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic.
The topic of the presentation was “Veterinary Medical Records as Defense to Your Veterinary License”. The presentation reviewed the:
- California Veterinary Medical Board‘s (VMB) baseline standard for record keeping;
- Differences between veterinary medical records and medical records;
- Ways the VMB uses veterinary medical records during investigations in response to consumer complaints to build cases against licensees; and
- Types of accusations filed and discipline imposed for shoddy record keeping.
